My fridge has aN ice maker that seems to have died. I unplugged it and restarted and the solenoid in the back started going nuts, cycling through over and over. I called someone but I need a quick answer before I pay through the nose. The whole board looks like a one piece in the back and I may have to replace it. I hope its not too pricey. Any ideas?? BTW now the water and ice maker stopped now.

Guess what? The whole board needs replaced. Sorry to tell you this but the more complicated a unit it is with all kinds of electronic displays, etc. the more it costs to repair and/or fix. Get your checkbook warmed up. It's a pricey part plus the labor and know how to install it properly (unless you feel lucky and want to take a stab at replacing it yourself). If you had a multi tester you could eliminate the other parts in the meantime and see if they are bad. More than likely they aren't and the board is kaput. Next time buy a basic unit. Those things are easier to repair and you can sometimes replace a bad part yourself very easily. High tech fridges are sometimes not the way to go. Basic is much better. Just ask any rich fridge repairman which is better and they will tell you hands down they don't do much work on the plain jane models... just the fancy schmancy models.
