The Holy Spirit is God, the third Person of the Holy Trinity.

Matthew 28 19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

John 4 24 God is a spirit; and they that adore him, must adore him in spirit and in truth.

Acts 5 1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Saphira his wife, sold a piece of land, 2 And by fraud kept back part of the price of the land, his wife being privy thereunto: and bringing a certain part of it, laid it at the feet of the apostles. 3 But Peter said: Ananias, why hath Satan tempted thy heart, that thou shouldst lie to the Holy Ghost, and by fraud keep part of the price of the land? 4 Whilst it remained, did it not remain to thee? And after it was sold, was it not in thy power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thy heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.

He is the one who leads us to the truth of Jesus Christ:

John 14 26 But the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your mind, whatsoever I shall have said to you.

He is the one who helps us to pray in unspeakable groanings:

Romans 8 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the Spirit himself asketh for us with unspeakable groanings.

He is the one who can fathom the depths of God:

1 Cor 2 10 But to us God hath revealed them, by this Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Sincerely,

De Maria

I believe in a "triune" God, three in one, and that the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is one of the three personalities through whom the one God is known.

The Holy Spirit is presented in the Bible as Comforter. Jesus as reported in the Gospel of John said that He would send another comforter. "Another" in this context is said by some to mean another one like himself.

The "another comforter" came, according to the early part of the book of Acts in the New Testament, on the day of "Pentecost." The event took place during a gathering of the early church.

The Holy Spirit is not a physical being as Jesus was a physical being when on earth in the flesh. I think of Him as the spiritual presence of Jesus following the departure of Jesus from earth. That departure is called the ascension (going up into heaven), following the resurrection (rising from the dead).

The Holy Spirit empowers believers for their walk in Christ (Jesus), their living out their commitment to Christ, and He convinces unbelievers within themselves of their sin (being doers of wrong) so they might acknowledge their need for Jesus as Savior and Lord of their lives.
