I'm looking for the name of a movie in which a man is underground, works his way out and finds he is alone in the world. He makes his way to NYC where he finds another guy and a later a woman. The two men end of fighting over the woman.

Um, sounds a lot like I am Legend. I know that's WAY too new but I think it might have been a remake of an older movie. Not sure though.
