We currently have a unfinished basement with a toilet and sink. I would like to add a shower. How can we do this. Step by step. The toilet is in the corner and feeds into a floor drain (we have a separate cast iron pipe that feeds the rest of the house). THe sink feeds into the same floor drain.

Are you saying that the toilet discharges into a floor drain? Is this a "indirect waste"?
Indirect waste = a drain that isn't physically connected to the sewer but drains into a floor drain from a fixture drain pipe. I'll wait on your answer. Regards, Tom

We can give you step-by-step instructions, but do you realize you're probably getting into some serious surgery here? Personally, I don't know you, so if you're really a Master Plumber or something, pardon me for underestimating your plumbing skills. :D But I hope you realize the full impact of what you might be getting yourself into (i.e. chopping cement, or at least platforming a shower stall)...

I know it is going to be difficult and worst case I am willing to try and if I completely mess it up I can hire someone-although I have never failed at project.

The toilet is already plumbed-by whom and when I have no idea. The floor drains receive the waste water from the kitchen and the washer-I am not sure if that makes a difference.

Rob, Let me repeat my question in case you missed it. " Are you saying that the toilet discharges into a floor drain? Is this a "indirect waste"?
