This is kind of a dumb question but some friends and I got to talking and it got kind of interesting so I thought I'd post the main cause of the conversation here... I was wondering what the first thing you did when you turned 18?
If you're not 18 what's the first thing you plan to do?

I voted. It was about six months after my 18th. I was super excited about it.

My friends planned a party for me at a bar on a Sat. night for my 18th b'day. The problem was, I didn't turn 18 until after midnight. I had one drink, and a person in the bar who thought it would be funny... busted me! I got kicked out, while the rest of my so-called friends stayed in the bar and partied.

The first thing I did when I turned 18 was plot my revenge, lol!

You can be 18 and drink in Canada... hmm you learn something new everyday.
Sucks about being busted though.. wha'd the cops say?

Bought 18 scratch off lotto tickets.

... spent $18 on it, won $77.

... it was a good day.

Lotto tickets.. don't know why I didn't think of that. Next time I buy gas I'll have to get some- my b-day was last Friday.

Happy belated birthday bud. Yeah, it's better if you get your friends to just buy you 18 tickets.

18, wow, that was almost 20 years ago. Sigh.

My friends took me to Chucky Cheese and we ordered Chucky Beer (it leaves allot to be desired and is appropriately named). Then we all went to a bar, got a bit tipsy and danced the night away. It was a night to remember, and a hangover that lasted 3 days.

They didn't call the cops. Probably because they would've been in trouble for not checking ID. Thing is, I had gone in that same bar several times from the time I was 16. We always tried to see if we could get away with it, and we did! So it really sucked when I was carded just a few hrs before I turned 18, and then they didn't allow me back in even after midnite. It sucked! LOL

Yes, legal drinking age in Canada is 18. I think Ontario might be 19 now.

3 minutes before I was 18, I walked into 711. I wondered around the store for three minutes, and when the big clock on the wall struck midnight, I legally bought my first pack of Cigarettes. Sad but true. I'm really glad I quit.

I live in Michigan. I also Live about 45 min. away from the border into Canada. On my 19th birthday I participated in the right of passage of crossing the border and getting trashed. As far as I know, you have to be 19 to drink in Canada.

I got engaged on my 18th birthday. It was puppy love and we didn't get married but I still have fond memories of those times. Gah almost 9 years ago now.

I'm 22, I have three friends who got married as soon as they turned 18. Only one of the three couples are still married. I have yet to get engaged for that very reason.

Not in Alberta. In British Columbia the legal age is 19, in Alberta it's 18. I live in Alberta, it pays to drive an extra day. :)

I think the general rule is that you can be 24 about 15 times...

... and then 25 another 7 times...

... at least according to my mother...

Sneezy, isn't the legal age in the US 21? Hmm, something about your story seems a bit suspicious, hmmm, I might have to ask more questions to get to the truth. Can I handle the truth? :) ;)

Wow, if I had known that I'm sure we would have made the drive. Sadly it's too late for me now, and I don't feel compelled, in the least, to share this new found info with younger generations. Haha. I'm 26, and the hardest birthday so far was 25. The day that I was closer to 30 than to 20 was a bit of a bummer. It doesn't bother me so much anymore... 30 is the new 20 right?

I think the next time I go up to PA I'll drive another few hours and make a pit stop north of the border...
I probably won't handle it too well though coffee makes me psycho I can only imagine what other stuff will do... :)

I remember I couldn't wait to turn the big one eight...

First thing I did was buy a pack of smokes.
Second thing I did was reserve 3 hotel rooms so that I could celebrate my b-day with a bunch of friends. I know a person must be at least 18 to reserve a room. We had a blast!
Thirdly I legally started dating my boyfriend!

Now I'm just waiting on my 21st b-day which is in 8 months and 3 days.
