I have a bit of an issue in my bathroom remodel and looking for a bit of advice to get this fixed speedily.

I have two sets of lines for two sinks (hot, cold, and waste).

The new vanity, however, has drawers that don't allow for one of the two sets to fit gracefully. Admittedly, I should have considered this before purchasing it, but that's in the past, and it's not returnable.

What I'd like to do, is cap off one of the two sets of pipes and feed the two sinks out of one set of pipes. I know there would be less water pressure in the lines when both sinks were in use at once, but that's acceptable, if this is allowable otherwise. The other alternative I'm considering, is that I can move the hot and cold water feeds (with some effort, but it's a bit more annoying) and have each sink have their own fresh water lines and both use one outbound waste line.

I just don't know if there are any codes or regulations against either such configurations.

Is this allowable?

David, as my code book says... as long as sinks are within 30" center of drain to center of drain at next sink (left to right), then OK to use single trap and vent (trap inlet directly under 1 sink, tees off in between trap inlet pipe trap and 1st sink for other sink... that make sense? Water should not be a major issue.

Heck, I'd bet you could cut the back of a drawer to make it a little shorter and have it fit gracefully. Does the cabinet have a back on it. Is there a divider between the drawer bank and the sink bay? Are the drawer runners attached to the back or the sides of the cabinet. If this appears possible, show me a picture of the drawer and I'll tell you how to cut it.

Thanks for the responses both of you. Much appreciated.

What I plan on doing then is capping off the waste pipe at the wall that would interfere with the cabinet. (it actually would require the hole to be cut right where the drawer support slide would be, so shortening the drawer, while a good idea, wouldn't work). Then, I'll use a single waste line for both, since my sinks are 30" on center at the drains.

I'll use a single trap, tee'd off to the second sink and I'll continue using the second set of supply (hot and cold) lines.

I'll check back in this weekend to let you both know how it went.

Hey David,
Sounds like a regular two tub vanity hookup to me. You will use a continuous waste ,(see image) to tie the two tubs together and one trap and vent to service both tubs. We hook them up like that all the time. Good luck, Tom

Bathroom is just about done (I'm only a weekend warrior in my renovations).
