Help! I just dyed my hair with loreal. The problem is that the gray areas have come out much toooo red! What can I do ? The problem is especially at the roots where the hair is more gray. My natural color is dark brown with reddish tints.

Thank you.

I dyed my hair about a week ago to get the red out of my hair. I put an Ash Blonde on it. Ash shades take the red out. The only thing with my hair is I had let my natural light brown color grow out on the top about an inch, so when I dyed it my roots turned bright blonde while the rest of my hair was a medium brown. I went to a professional and had him match my roots to the rest of my hair. Now it looks great. Be careful with the box dyes. I am rather addicted to them myself but they can screw up your hair.

Gray hair can be resistant to hair color, but if the hair is porous, it will absorb the color quickly, making it appear brighter or darker than your desired color. If your hair is too red, you can re-color your hair to tone it down. Since your natural color is dark brown with red tones, you can a use a "dark reddish brown" hair coloring product. It will tone down the vibrant red color and bring you closer to your natural color.
