Hello
I have recently been researching into skin care products and chemical ingredients. There appears to be many toxic chemicals in beauty products that would seemingly have detrimental effects on the body if used over a prolonged length of time.
For example the body shop have a body balm called Aloe Caring body balm which has been designed for sensitive skin however it has ingredients such as steric acid and disodium EDTA which according to a number of website's can be highly toxic. I would like some clarity to know how safe are these products and should I start purchasing pure organic instead.
Thank you
K:)

From my understanding, the steric acids, disodium, as well as the ingredients they put in most pills magnesium stearate, sodium benzonate and so forth are mainly fillers and binders. They are even in Tylenol and most every pill anybody takes.
Fillers and binders keep make-up, pills and supplements a *smoother* consistency. Like to keep them from clumping up or 'melting'. Also, with the pills and supplements anyway, when I heard about the magnesium stearate and sodium benzonate I asked a friend of mine that makes herbal pills and he said that they tried making them without the binders and fillers but the bacteria bubbled so bad that the bottles exploded all over the warehouse.
I know there are places that have the secret of making things without these things but you have to really do your homework and look for them. They are going to be more expensive
They say these additives damage your T 3 & 4 cells which contribute to aging.
Quantum Rx Living Food Nutrition from Dr. Robert - Bob - Marshall (http://qnlabs.com) makes supplements without the added ingredients.
I also think that some of the websites make scare tactic claims so you will panic and buy their product.
I tried to rationalize logically on a scale from good to bad and I figure that these additives can not be near as bad as the preservatives in a bag of chips or a bottle of Canola oil.
But the best thing to do, I figure is look for the most natural you can afford.
I went to a seminar by Dr. Pompa he said EVERYTHING is energy and that energy is either positive or negative -God made or man made, and you want to go with the most natural because the man made stuff does contribute to the aging process.
I don't know how *pure* these make-ups are but you could check them.
natural make up with no fillers - Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=natural+make+up+with+no+fillers+&btnG=Google+Search)
This is a list of the main fillers and binders
* Magnesium Stearate
* Stearic Acid
* Sodium Benzoate
* Potassium Sorbate
* Flavors or Natural Flavors
* Silicon Dioxide
* Titanium Dioxide
* Colors
* Lactose
* Cellulose
* Gelatin
* Sodium Glycolate
* Talc
* Sucrose
* Calcium Stearate
* Palmitate
* Hydroxy Propyl Methylcellulose
* Ethylcellulose
* Glaze
* Shellac
* Starch
Over 90% of pill products consumed today
Contain magnesium stearate, also known as Stearic Acid.
'Stearic Acid inhibits T-cell dependent immune responses. Plasma membrane integrity is significantly impaired, leading to a loss of membrane potential and ultimately cell function and viability leading to cell degeneration and aging.'
From what I am looking up the keep the disodium EDTA to 3-gram dose. If 'infused' in less than than three hours, there is danger of kidney overload.
Also look up environmental toxins, you will be surprised at the things they put in cleaners, air fresheners, building products and many other common household things.
