I RECEIVE DISABILTY direct deposit into my checking account. I just found out by calling the bank that I have lien on my account by a long Islland attorney.I live in the state of Ga. Can my disabilty check be taken?

I have moved your post, to its own question ( thread) when you piggyback your question to an existing question, often people confuse what you are saying, if you are responsding to the other persons question.

Depends on whose lien, IRS?? But in most cases the disability check can not be, but you need to advise the bank that this is where the funds come from. Also if there are other funds mixed in, those funds can be.

If this is a SS Disability check it is exempt except for child support, alimony, certain student loans. HOWEVER, they CAN lien against any other monies in that account.

Are you saying - because you are in Georgia and the Attorney is in NY - that this is not your debt?
