Getting ready to install over the range micro. Opening for micro is tiled along with backsplash. Can these be installed over tile, or does tile have to be removed. If so, what is the easiest way to cut the tile with a straight edge on bottom for level alighnment with bottom of micro. Thanks

I don't see why or couldn't install it over the tiles as long as the mounting bracket is securely attached to the wall framing.

As far as the toggle bolts the give for hanging... should I just drill through the tile at the appropriate spots?
Drill through porcelain tile, what type of drill bit?

You should hit some studs for that bracket, don't use just toggle bolts. Use a tile or masonry bit for drilling.

Right, the instructions say to at least hit a stud with one fastner, the rest use the toggle bolts.

It can be a bear trying to drill 3/8" holes in ceramic so I'd vote for popping the tile out that gets in your way. A 3/8" ceramic bit is expensive and will only do a few holes before it starts slowing down taking maybe 5-10 minutes per hole. No one will ever see it again, just pop it out. Yep got to hit a stud or two so get a studfinder. Once your mounting plate is hung you are better than half way done. Remember to drill up to get your electric cord into the cabinet above where you have already installed a duplex outlet.

I agree with Bob, just remove a tile, but Home Dummies will sell you a cheap set of glass drill bits that work pretty well on tiles.. Don't last very long, only to two or three holes. Start with small bit then move up.
