My wife,72 and I, 79 are recipients of Supplemental Social Income of about 360$ each, and we are dependents of our son. As we were not required to file taxes, we had not done so far. Now regarding the new stimulant tax refund, we are told to file a tax return first. First I would like to know, if we are eligible for such refund because of our age?

You should be eligible for the tax rebate through the Social Security Office. I am not sure how it works if you are already claimed by someone. Call your Social Security Office and they will be able to help you with that question. You also may be able to find the answer on Social Security Online. I am not sure that the ssi qualifies I think it may have to just be SS payments.

For stimulus rebate the SSI income does not qualify. Also dependents won't get stimulus tax rebate.
