OK I have another ? I was getting out of the shower and when I went to get dressed I bent over to put on my pants and I felt a little gush of fluid and I went to the bathroom and wiped looked normal can this be my water and how can I know are they any home test that I can I do to see if it is the hospital is 45 minutes away and the roads are bad so I don't want to take the kids out in it if it is not necssary please help
There is no way to tell for sure at home. It could have been your bladder, or it could have been your bag of waters. However, only the tests done at the hospital will tell you for sure. There is the ferning test and the litmus test.
Have you contacted your doctor? If not, I would suggest you do so now.

They are closed and I don't have a after hour number
Then you call the hospital. Unfortunately they will tell you to come in so they can perform these tests. But if your water did indeed break labor is imminent and you only have a 24 hour window of safety for the baby. After that 24 hours risk of infection rises remarkably.
I wish I could tell you either way, but it's impossible. The tests need to be done.
Please call your maternity center.

Best advice I received was if you are uncertain if your water has broken or not, put on a panty liner and check it within 15 minutes. If it is wet, look at the color and smell it. Urine has a distinct smell, even if it isn't yellow. Your waters will probably have a sweet smell and should be clear unless there is meconium, in which case it will probably be a green or brown color. Once your water breaks you continue to leak fluid, even if it is a big gush at first. That is exactly what I did when my water broke. I couldn't tell because it was just a light flow and I thought I peed myself. It didn't help that it was 2 in the morning and I was 5 weeks early! If you do this and are still uncertain, do as you did and go in to get checked. Also, next time try calling your docs regular phone number. Often times they have an answering service that takes calls while the office is closed. They will put you in contact with the on call doc. Might save you from a 45 minute drive.
