Have you had any luck with this saying? Do you find it to be true? In what cases have you failed twice and succeeded the third time? Do you believe in this saying and why might it be true?

Disagree. You only notice the third time because of that saying. Other times you've been successful the first time, or the second time, or the eighth time.

I think it's a cute saying... but nah I wouldn't put much stock in things being successful, because it's the third time you tried. :)

I agree with NK, I mean if it was true I think id skip the first and second and just go straight to the third

How can you get to the third without going through one and two? Otherwise the number would have no weight--3 is preceded by one and two, the sum of one and two.
I see your point but I think the focal point of the saying refers to experience--not necessarily in three's of course. But they always say--this is why I am asking--good things come in 3's
