Hello, I am wondering how to stop a garnishment that has been placed on my social security benefit check. The garnishment is taking place because my husband owes backed taxes, however we are legally separated and don't even live in the same state. Also, we have been filing seperatly for the last 4 years, please help.

You will have to have an attorney appear with you before that court with a motion to stop them, you will have to prove that the taxes owed were not from years that you had joint tax liablilty
