My daughter is over 18 yrs old now. I still pay support. This year she will be 19. What do I need to do to get her emancipated. What is the law on it in this state. Is it automatic when the age of 18 is reached. What steps do I need to take.

It is not always automatic. If she is still in school including college you are still held responsible for support until she is 21 or if she decides not to go to college then it will quit sooner. In order to have her emancipated you need to get a lawyer to start filling out papers.

She is emancipaed as for as "HER" rights, she can move out, sign contracts and do what she wants.

Now for your legal obligation, you will have to go to family court where the order is in place and ask to have it stopped. What does your court order say about payinf for college ( is she going ) and so on, if she is still in high school normally you will have to pay though high school
