Starts, stops, spins, and flushes out water appropriately - but won't let water in, neither hot nor cold, on any program / cycle. Any ideas? Need to fix it myself to keep housepeace...

Zaks36- #1 - take the hoses off where they hook up to the washer ( OH FIRST TURN OFF THE WATER TO THE WASHER {HOT &COLD} ) Inside you will find a filter screen inside both the hot & cold, remove and cleanand then relpace them where you got them :: hook hoses back up and turn washer op and see if it has helped,If it has'nt check your filler valve on the backof washer . You may not be getting any water threw the water valve , check to make sure wires are still hooked up good. If you have one you can check to see if water inlet valve is good by using a ohm. Meter.Next lets check to see if maybe the floot switch is not sticking in the up position ( thinking washer is full of water. Ok I have taken you threw the steps of what to check and why, if every thing has checked out OK , then it is probley the main control switch. One other thing - open the washer door , get a common (SMALL) screw driver ,look around the top of washer , you will see a very small slot, there is a pin on the bottom of the washer door that goes into that slot and it needs to be compressed down for washer to run, just stick the screw driver a little way down to push the switch down and make conrtact so washer will start it's a safety switch to keep anyone from getting hurt when the washer starts :: HOPE I HAVE HELPED IF I HAVE <RATE MY ANSWER BELOW GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS ::: F.B.E.

Thanks FBE! - very helpful. I took it apart, and started with the water level switch, thinking it may be stuck. Sure enough, after prying it open, I forced the connectors to a "fill" position - and water started coming through, absolving the solenoid. Now am looking to order that part - and hopefully we'll be back to square one minus a couple of hours and $25...

Kenmore 80 Series washing machine (110.25862400). Filled with water to start load but stopped. No power. Tried unplugging and plugging back in, checked breaker box, and have tried to get it to turn and drain, but it won't come on. Suggestions?

kbks make sure the safety switch is plugged in, it may be the root of your problem. Or the tab on the door is not making a connection to actuate the safety.
