Frigidaire DRYER FDE7970EW1 keeps blowing thermal limiter -

Over the last couple months I have replaced this thermal limiter 4 times .

By the second oen I finally realized I needed to take the whole thing apart to get to the thermal limiter easily AND to vac out ALL the huge amount of lint that had gone past the lint screen , which didn't fully insert into it's slot due to it turns out about a pound of lint accumulated where the lint screen seats.

I also had to vac all the lint inside on the bottom under the drum and on the motor and in the back of the drum... lots .

Now the lint screen seats great , there is NO lint inside anyplace, but if we try a full load the thermal limiter opens again... we ran half loads for about a month , then wife forgot and the thermal limiter opened again.

The venting outside is not blocked , the vent silver foil flexible conduit thing is totally clear and had only a minimum of lint when I first looked around .

The whole blowing thing of the thermal fuse showed up when I did the wash ( therefore wife blames me.. ) and put two loads into the drum and on the second time right after the first two load the thermal limiter died it's first time and we haven't been able to do a full load since , only on fluff dry and half a load .

This dryer is now 11 years old , given great service and I think I can fix it .

I noticed on the web there was a reference to a kit that moved the heat coil and it's foil thing with spacers away from the machine rear wall bulkhead and had a piece of foam and a thermal limiter fuse ( not sure if limiter is rated the same - maybe I do need this kit as there must have been some issue ( it was under GE , but the pictures seemed to refer to my Frigidaire exactly ) .

Maybe one of the thermal sensors is at fault or my coil ( which seemed stretched when I inspected the first time and I had to seat it in it's holder posts - note we had a tech come out a few months earlier to replace the drum bearing , I didn't really watch... ) .

So I am going to try again , but maybe replace the thermal fuse , the heating coil element , the thermostats... but when the dryer works , it sure is REALLY hot on the outside rear bulkhead and in fact has a dark discolored "spot" about 6 inches in diameter.

The top of where the coil mount is has a felt looking thing that I suppose insulates from the heat , it is discolored too .

The GE heat flow kit maybe addresses a design fault or age problem that developes after a few years..?

GE part number WE25X10011 Heater Housing/Airflow Kit would help or fix or??

Have you removed the blower housing and cleaned out that area? Is the blower running up to full speed?

When I had the front panel off I vac'd inside wher I coul dsee and reach , vac'd debris off the blower blades... not sure how I would chekck if the blower runs at full speed ( or at all?? ) .

Jump the front door interlock with front door off ?
