When I try dialing in to my service (and to save time I'm sure I'm dialing the right number) I hear a dial tone and a handshake but in the middle of the hand shake it goes into a deep beeping ringtone and won't stop till an error 678 message comes on. Now if I try another number, the same but if I keep trying the numbers over and over again sooner or later I get my connection, how to fix this problem, thank you.

I am reminded of the horse and buggy daze of dial-up -- They take forever on
Hold and usually tell you -- you need a new modem -- or they would walk me
Through a string of dialing properties to make your modem work --
I hated calling customer service with a passion... Hope this helps

Hi,
Here are some tips to rectify the issue.
If you have call minder or a voice mail service on your landline, then try clearing the messages.
Try unplugging all telephony equipment (for example, telephone handsets, answering machines, fax machines, etc) and just leaving your computer plugged directly into the phone jack and try connecting as there may be interference when you are attempting to dial up.
You may need to add a couple of commas to the front of your dial up number e.g., 081XXXXXXX (what ever the dial up number may be).
Give this ago and see if that helps.
