Hi, please help... my 7 year old daughter is getting really bad stomach pains. She has had 4 infections in the past 11 months. Sometimes she gets the tummy pain and when the doctors do urine tests they come back negative but sometimes they will do another test and it will come back positive! The doctors keep saying its 'constipation!! ' and I may not be a doctor but I know it is not! My little girl is in so much pain and I feel so angry with the doctors just dismissing her and not doing anything or being able to diagnose the problem. She had a scan will came back fine. Can you help because my little girl crys as she is in so much pain.

Please understand that we are not doctors here. I am a student nurse on the horizon of graduation, but still not quite a nurse yet.
When you say she has had 4 infections, do you mean urinary tract infections? What kind of infection?
Then we can go from there.

Hi, yes she has had 4 urinary tract infections and the pain she gets with these are horrendous. She gets these pains quite a lot but when the doctors do a urine sample it can come up negative the 1st & 2nd time and positve the third time. So th doctors usually dismiss it if the urine sample has come up negative the 1st time. I know she is getting infections because the tummy pain is the same as when she has them.

Okay, now to get a little bit personal here, what are her toileting habits? Wiping from back to front is a known cause of urinary tract infections. She NEEDS to wipe from front to back.
Also, when you are giving her the antibiotics, are you giving her the entire course of antibiotics? Or do you stop when her symptoms are relieved?
Does she have any other medical conditions?

Hi, I wash her every other day and I always clean her myself and yes I wipe her front to back. Yes she always completes her full course of anti-biotics

Oh and sorry no she does not have any medical conditions. She was born with a heart murmur which later corrected itself

i always clean her myself But you can't clean her when she is in school. She is 7 correct?
It may be time you make an appointment with a urologist to figure out what is going on with her and why she continually gets UTIs.

Hmm, I am no doc. but I did stay in a holiday inn express last night.. lol Sorry, couldn't resist. Could it actually be kidney stones? A young age but who knows, they seem to be misdiagnosed a lot. You need to describe A LOT more. What kind of scan did she have? CT? How long does the pain last? Is it after eating? How long in between infections? What kind of doc are you seeing.. GP or specialist? We cannot help without more info.

If she has a history of being on antibiotics you need to give her yogurt or probiotics to replace the good bacteria that the antibiotics 'took out'. My daughter had several UTI's by the time she was seven and I finally realized that not giving her probiotics was one of the problem.
Other than that hopefully J-9 will be able to help you out with it all.

Yeah she could have a ulser or kidney stones. My mom had problems with her gull blatter and had bad stomach pains. You might want to keep taking her to the doctor. Or maybe a more experienced doctor.
