I bought a 99 Ford Windstar yesterday, and today the check engine light came on. The oil and transmission fluid are fine, I took it to auto zone, and they put it on some machine that is supposed to tell you a code to see what is wrong, but it didn't show anything... what to do now?

1) Engine oil and trans fluid do not make a MIL light come on.
2) Don't go to Auto Zone; all they have is a generic code scanner which gives you an idea as to what's wrong, but won't always tell you exactly what it is.

Drive it for 2-3 days and see if it shuts off. If not, take it to a real mechanic and have them do a computer test with an actual diagnostic computer, not a handheld scanner like AutoZone. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap.

I thought it might be the fuel injectors, so I put some fuel injector cleaner in it and the check engine light went off, thak you for the reply. When I get home I am going to put some sea foam in the intake valves, to clean it out

Was the gas cap loose? Was it really a EVAP code hiding...

I do not know what was wrong with it honestly, but the fuel injector cleaner made the light go off. I cleaned the injectors last night with sea foam, and the van runs 100% better now. Thank you for the reply.:) ;)

Was just curious.
These are notorious for PO1481 evap code. Since you added the FI cleaner you had to have the gas cap off.

All is well then.
