My husband and I are trying to conceive, and I have recently come off the pill after being on it for 8 years!

On exactly 3 months after coming off the pill I got my first period, or what I thought was my period however it has only been brown discharge.

I have done numerous pregnancy tests all coming back negative. I also took an ovulation test about 2 weeks ago which showed that I was in fact ovulating, so I don't know if the brown discharge which has been for about 2 days now is my period or if it could be implantation bleeding. However the tests are all coming up negative and I have no other symptoms apart from Bloating.

I really want my period to come as my doctor said it is not likely that I will be pregnant until this happens, however it does not seem like it will come this month as the brown discharge is getting darker (which indicates it is old blood).

Has this happened to anyone else?

Implantation bleeding is uncommon not unheard of but uncommon

I was also on the pill for five years prior to getting pregnant with my son. I was off the pill for one year before we tried to conceive. But I had similar discharge about 2 months after being off the pill. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I was on the pill, ortho novum, normal pill for women that you take daily. I was on it for 3 years and once off the pill, it took another 14 months until I could conceive. The details you wrote does sound much more like old blood. Your body is changing a lot now with the absence of the pill and it will take time for your body and hormones to regulate themselves. Personally, I think it can take a while so I doubt it's implantation as it would be extremely light and is only common in 1/3 of women. Odds are once your body regulates and begins having periods normally, you'll notice a pregnancy by the lack of your period to come. I wish you luck though! Best of!
