Hi ladies. This question has nothing to do with pregnancy or new motherhood, but I thought I'd come here to ask because I know there is plently of women here who could answer my question.

I normally get sore boobs a few days before I start my period. As far as I know, that is normal right. I am on the pill (alesse) and I still have a week to go before I start my next period. The thing is, for about a week now already I've had very sore boobs, more so than when it is time for my period. Its about twice as sore.
About an hour ago, I felt a lump on my left boob, on the left side just above where my boob begins. It is very sore, even to just touch it. It feels like it is about the size of a nickel. I should add, I'm only 22.
Is it normal to get lumps in your boob when they are sore. Will the lump go away when my boobs stop being sore? Or do you think I should go to the doctor?

Sore breasts before/during/after your menstruation period is normal.

As far as the lump goes, it CAN be absolutely nothing... a muscle "knot" if you will. However, if the soreness + lump doesn't go away within the next couple of days, go see a doctor.

Do you have any history of breast cancer in the family?

Your age makes me question the "cancer" topic, but it HAS happened.

The soreness also makes me question it, but again, it HAS happened.

So after a couple of days, see if lump/soreness goes away. If not, def go see a doc. There's a good chance that the doc will disregard your lump due to age and soreness. If you're really worried, have a fine needle biopsy done... and again, your doctor may even tell you that he won't. Push him/her if you have to.
