My dad and I want to start a trucking company. What licenses and other things do we need to have for it all to be legal?

What sort of things is it that you would like to haul? Also, where would you like to do the trucking? Is this something over-the-road or just local? Are you planning on having multiple trucks and a number of employees or just one truck and you and your dad? It would help to have a little more information here in order to provide you with the best answers. Thank you.

See my dad is working 4 this ahole that owes him and I a lot of money. So we want to start our own. It's him and I. he is the driver I am the manager. We want to do local and around other states. Furniture, electronics, motorcycles. You know anything that people need hauled that don't have time to do it themselves. Exaple My dad just droped off a worm harvester he is about to drop off furniture and 2 different off road bikes..
