My husband received overpayment for unemployment and they said that they were going to put a lien on the house. But there are 2 other people on the deed can the take the house or make me sell it for 5,000.00? The letter said they could see is this true? What can I do?

Anyone can put a lien on a house, but only the IRS can repo it.
Only when you sell the house does the lien become due.
Work out a payment plan with the lien holder. You should be fine.

I think you meant the letter said they could sue; that is correct as they could sue for an overpayment of benefits. If your husband is sued and a judgement is rende against him, the judgement when recorded becomes a lien against any property your husband owns. If he was over paid, shouldn't he repay them?

Also remember depending on why they "over paid" can also be a criminal offense, such as not properly reporting wages, claiming when not entitled and so on. So be careful in this. Also normally they want a payment plan,
