View Full Version : No hope of receiving a W-2 & I don't have my last paystub!

In October, my employer filed for bankruptcy. It took them 3 weeks to get us our last paycheck. Today is Feb. 13th and I still have no W2 and no way to contact my employer at all. I've spoken with several of my former co-workers and none of them have a contact or a W-2.
Short of paying for almost a years' worth of bank statements and sitting down and going through them for deposit amounts and then trying to use an online payroll estimator to figure up taxes, I don't know what else to do. My real question is will I be able to e-file (using Turbo Tax i.e.) without a real W2? I DO have both the state and federal ID #s (my co-worker had last year's W2 handy).
Any advice? Thanks!

Call the IRS toll-free at (800) TAX-1040 or (800) 829–1040.

And use this as a lesson to keep all your pay stubs. :-)

You should never file on the basis of pay stubs. Always wait for W2.
