I know it takes time after getting off the shot but its been exactly 1 yr and 3 months when will I be able to get pregnant... could it be possible that I can't conceive? Please help!!

The best way to find out about this would be to go to the doctor, and talk to them about ways to conceive, when the best time for you to have sex (ovulation), etc.

I had a depo shot in February a few years ago, I bled for 6 months straight, then didn't get pregnant until may,in the year after my depo shot. That injection was really bad for my body and my mood swings were huge. Definitely go to the doctor.

OK, the depo shot is my hugest pet peeve. I hate that thing with a fury. However, I'll keep to the details of your question. It can take up to 18 months (or longer, depending on how long you were on it, and how your body reacted to it)before you can expect the medication to be completely out of your system. It took me 18 months before I was able to conceive again. I have known many people who is has taken years on years, and some who have given up. Some people have absolutely no problems with the shot, but a great deal of people do.

I have had a doctor's appt. January 18th and which he did a pap smear, etc. he told me everything was perfectly fine and I have talked with him about concieving and he said its takes about 6 months to a year for the medication to clear the body, and everyone's bodies are diff so it can take less than that for some and longer for others.

I took the injections for 11 months, stopped taking them after having major bleeding issues. Stopped all form of birth control and it was almost 3 years before I was able to conceive again. I'm now 10 weeks and everything is fine but if I could have known what I would have gone through after taking the injections, I never would have started them.

Absolutely ineedapinch, that shot is terrible. I had major bleeding issues with it also. Constant non-stop bleeding for weeks at a time, with only a few days to a week between, with breakthrough bleeding the whole time. Easy to become anemic like that

buggage... I did become very anemic. I was put on absolute bed rest for just over a week (try that while having a 12 month old running around). I was having to have blood drawn every day (nurse brought in to my home). My blood levels were so low that I was being prepared for a blood transfusion. Luckily, the day that doctor's started to discuss transfusion was the day my levels stopped dropping and started to climb back up. They stopped the bleeding by weekly, get this, depo injections for 3 weeks. It was a horrible time in my life. I've never felt so sick and so helpless by what my body was doing. I am 100% convinced that the massive bleeding was in someway connected to my taking the injections. They cannot confirm that, of course, but they have never been able to figure out what caused the bleeding to start in the first place - the depo had stopped my monthly cycle, which I was doing happy dances about. Boy, did I pay. All in all, it took me almost 6 months to fully recover and as I've written before, almost 3 years until I was able to conceive another child. :(

Ouch I hear you. I hated how the shot made me feel. I was always sick, my abdomen was always hurting, I had depression, no sexual drive and sex itself was painful. Constant bleeding, everything. On top of it all I lost half an inch on my height, as well as a full shoe size due to the bone density loss. All this with a newborn-9 month old(I stopped taking it after 2 shots) I just hated even getting out of bed every morning, and you shouldn't live your life that way, esp when you should be enjoying being a mommy. And it took me 18 months to conceive again, but I have a friend who was diagnosed with " unknown infertility" or soemthing along those lines. She had problems with the depo too, and a new daughter, just prior to starting the shot. But they've not been able to have a second child yet, and its been about 6+ years now

I was on Depo for just about a year, and was off it for just over 15 months before I became pregnant. I had no problems while taking the shot or after I stopped like the other two ladies... fortunately. My OB at the time told me that being on Depo can hinder your chances of getting pregnant, and that if you stop taking it, and resume taking it at any point in your life it highly increases the chance of becoming infertile. Depo can be a very good because for a lot of people, but unfortunately it's bad for a lot more people (in my opinion). I also believe that most doctors either don't know enough about it, or don't bother to inform their patients of all the possible side effects that can come with it. Good luck and I hope you fall pregnant soon.

Wow, I'm surprised your doctor told you so much, but that's great! Most people I talk to know absolutely nothing about it, other then that it stops your periods, and that is what's so appealing about it. They don't know about the risks, and the effects it sometimes has on you, etc. good to hear at least one doc took her job serious, when it came to telling all the info
