I am installing a one piece shower stall in my shop, it is a 32" stall and i have one outside wall and still have to build the inside wall. How do I rough in the stall. My vanity and stool are all on the inside wall in a line with the shower. With the wall i am building it will be about 1" away from the stool tank and about the same distance from the wall of the shower. It is on a concrete floor and I have the drain already in the floor with the pvc drain sticking up about 4". What is the best way to rough the stall in.

Is this a 3 sided stall or a 2 sides corner unit? Are you trying to build to code?

It is a 3 sided shower stall, not building to code, it is in my shop.

So you already have an inisde wall erected to make this a separate room and you need a stub wall to cover the end of the shower, right? Nail down a pressure treated 2x4 floor plate using a nail gun. Nail an identical 2x4 non treated directly above the floor plate usinf a plumb bob, one 2x4 stud under each end and one in the middle, cover with drywall, if I understood your project correctly.

Hey all... just wanted to add that if you are planning to install your shower valve centered to shower unit, then put your studs on ends as Ballengerb1 said, and then a stud 6 inches to left of center and a stud 6 inches to right of center... then install shower valve on center and hang to these studs... span across with piece at shower head height and connect the shower head via a drop ear elbow screwed to that. Just a thought for you. Good luck.

Yep, MASS is correct, I was picturing the stub wall was on the side and not the wall with the mixer and head. With a 32" shower stall with mixer you may need 3 or 4 studs with two horizontal spans for the drop ear and the mixer mounting.
