A week or 2 ago me and my hubby had sex, and later on that night I thought I better check for my IUD string I felt it and as I was pulling out my nail caught the string a bit but didn't seem to move it but I found some spotting blood later in the morn... I thought well maybe I scratched my uterus so I thought nothing of it... well the last few days my breast feel very tender (not a normal thing for me even before periods) and I been wiped out (but it could be from stress of school and family) I been extremely moody and I get a slight Nauseated here and there... I took an EPT test (next period is due on the 15th) so I knew it would be very soon but figured to rule it out but I was more confused after that... I took the test it looked negative then when I stood up I noticed a line going up it was extremely faint it looked like a shadow.. so I guess what I am asking is there a possibility I am pregnant and yes my IUD is still there?

Oh my goodness!! I have the same thing. I thought my string was lost but it's still there and I'm still worndering if I may be pregnant. Sort of scary when your not so sure. But I had a test that had a bright negative line and the faintest of positive lines and I now have a 7 year old. So good luck and congratulations if you are.

Okay Well my mom was on the IUD 23 years ago and here I am. Back then it was one in a million chance Im a miracle baby. They have greatly improved birth control these days but nothing is 100%. I would not stress about it, enjoy the day. And if you don't start on the 15th take another test. Also most doctors will give you a test of you bring this up. Let us know what you find out.

Being a 'Dalcon Shield' statistic, I got pregnant with that IUD and at 5 months - lost the baby and had an infection that kept me on IV antibiotics and bed - in hospital - for two weeks in the 1970's.

Yes, I know that technology has advanced since then, but every one of us is different and anything can happen.

If you are not sure - the only way to get reassurance is to see your doctor. Your body is the only one you have and you need to take care of it or it will not be able to take care of you..

An IUD's purpose is to ensure that a fertile egg does not attach itself to the uterine wall and develop and sometimes it fails. That is why doctors will ask you to visit them at least every 6 months for a checkup. And, yes, sometimes after sex there might be a little spotting - might be from 'scraping' the wall a bit and might not mean anything. Also, during menses, breasts might swell a little, just like the rest of the body and you might get tired.
But, again as I said before - when in doubt, see your clinician for reassurance.

Good luck, and keep us posted.
