I can't remember much about this movie, except the ending, but it's about a wife who is abused by her husband who also drinks a lot. At the end, abused and feeling hopeless, she's standing in the kitchen, turns on all the jets to the gas stove, lights a match, then B-A-M! Meanwhile, I think the husband is asleep on the couch in a drunken stupor. (everyone is blown up.) At the end, during the show of credits, the Bruce Springsteen song, 'Independence Day' is playing... (so say goodbye, it's independence day... )... slow and sad.

The title is the same as the song - "INDEPENDENCE DAY 1983"
