From our kitchen sink faucet, the cold side produces water that tastes very foul -- like there's a dead rat or something in the line. But I don't notice it on the hot water side, even when it's first turned on and the water coming out is cold. 'Been this way for months, just getting tired of it. Any ideas for a solution?

Hugo, if you have an outside tap try to get some water there and taste it. Does this water taste like a dead rat too?

The dead rat flavor is only on the kitchen cold water. Not out back at the hose bib, on either bathroom's faucets, nor the master bedroom shower. -Hugo:D

Shut off your main and open the cold valve stem or cartridge. Inspected for any debris or slim. Note the color of debris or slim and get back to us.

Here's what I would do. Shut the cold water off at the angle stop and unhook the supply from the stop. Now draw a glass of water out of the angle stop. Does it taste funny? Normal? If it tastes OK. The problem's upstream of the stop. If it still tastes bad the problems downstream of the stop. What I'm trying to do is pinpoint the source. Let me know. Tom
