I have a 1998 Dodge Stratus. When I drove home last night everything was fine. When I put the key in this morning everything seems to be locked. I can get it out of Park. I can't turn the key even though the key goes in.
Any ideas what could be the problem?

This may seem too simple, but move you steering wheel back and forth while turning the key forward. For some reason, GM and Chrysler ignitions tend to "freeze" when the wheel has been turned far enough to engage the steering lock after the ignition has been turned off. As mentioned earlier, move the wheel back and forth while turning the ignition. You should hear a small "pop" and the ignition will be released forward. Good luck...

If not the Tension on the steering wheel, Try your brakes and have someone tell you if they work, If not check fuse, power to brake switch, and when pressed, be sure you have power out. If brake switch does not work, it will not allow you to take out of gear.

I had a car to do this... a cheverolet Lumina I had to turn the steering wheel to the left while I pushed on the brakes and held them both in that position and that would unlock it.
