I need to make a half wall between the kitchen and diningroom. The stove and base cabinets with outlets are on that wall. It is a non-load bearing wall. Do I need a permit and how long would this project take (approximately), cost (5ft), general info appreciated. Thanks

Just so I'm clear on this you plan remove an existing full wall and you plan to leave the stove and base cabinets, right? Is there a soffit above the cabinets reaching the ceiling? The permit isse changes from town to town so you need to ask your local building department, it is required in most towns. I think the biggest reason for permits is, besides making money for the town, is to let the assessor knopw that you made improvements so he can tax you. They also want to make sure that you don't removce a load bearing wall by mistake.

Corbett828 - One thing he didn't mention . When you start cutting out 1/2 of the wall 9WATCH OUT FOR ANY WIREING INSIDE THE WALL< YOU COULD END UP WITH CURLEI HAIR, SO BE SAFE AND CHECK OUT FIRST > GO IN TO ATTIC AND YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL< BUT STILL BE CAREFUL >> GOOD LUCK HAVE A GOOD DAY & GOD BLESS:::::::F.B.E. ballengerb1 - good answer
