View Full Version : How do you knockout multi-sized slugs?

I have several electrical pannels which I need to wire. Each metal enclosure has a knockout section which looks similar to a group of washers, each smaller than the previous which have been welded togeather in a 2 inch knockout.

My problem is that it is simple to remove the 1/2" knockout in the center, or remove the full 2 inches of knockout, but removing any of the rings in between is difficult. I want to remove the second ring to 3/4 an inch.

From looking on the intenet, it almost looks like buying a slug buster & creating an entirely new hole is easier than removing the knockout.

Any suggestions?

The concentric knockouts you mention can be a $/%*@h to remove sometimes.

If you end up taking out more than you need, you can reduce the knockout down to the desired size by using a pair of "donuts" (AKA knockout reducers).

Or punch your own where desired.

Try and get your Kleins or pliers where you can twistback and forth at the spot it is connected(between 1/2 and 3/4 Knockout, do that to a second point(if three), then twist whole piece to break free from remainder.
