Hi,

I tried moving printer from older PC to new Compac with dual-core and XP Media Center. Using install disk, it runs for a while and then quits with "the install has encountered an error" . Always worked fine on other PC (I'm trying to fix... ). Had network setup to print from 2nd (Compac) through 1st (home-built) which had printer.

Could it be that 1315v is only compatible with USB 1.0 ? The Compac has USB 2.0...

OR is the Compac just set up to reject HP ? I thought HP bought Compac...

Thanks for any help!

JP,

Not a snowball's chance in Antigua, W.I. The RFC on USB 2 encompasses the USB 1/0 RFC.

The connectors are physically different, but USB2 will support USB 1.

I've got to scoot out, I check in with you later.

I would download the drivers for XP from Hp.com and install using those drivers.

Thanks to all for info.

1- I tried downloading the 1315v driver from HP, but it died at about 90% & I haven't tried again. I will.

2- Since cables are phys. Diff, and my cable is USb1.0, will it work with 2.0 ? I actually think something else is going on with the CD and/or the download file.

If any further ideas please let me know asap! THANKS!

I've used 1.0 devices with 2.0 jacks. I would try against on the download, maybe on a different PC.
