View Full Version : Shower Pipe Drips When Shower Head is Removed

Hi,
I keep buying new hand held showers heads that leak from the hose. I buy Delta brand. After I installed a new one yesterday, it started leaking from the hose again. Today I took off the entire shower head and see that from the pipe that comes out from the wall, it drips water at a pretty fast pace.
So now I'm thinking because the constant water that is dripping into the shower head and hose, it's building up pressure and is being forced to leak from the hose area. My question now is, how do I stop the water from leaking from the pipe. Is there something I need to adjust?
Any kind of help would be most appreciated. I can't sleep at night with the dripssssssss.
Thank you

The shower valve is a delta also. Only one knob for hot and cold.

Hi Elysa,

Your problem isn't with the hand held shower head. Your problem's with the shower valve itself. You've told us what brand the hand held shower is but neglected to inform us of the brand name and model shower valve you have. Before we can help we need more details and information. Regards, Tom

Hey Esysa,

The seats and springs ( Delta part# 4993) need to be replaced in the shower valve and the supplies flushed out. Do you plan on doing this yourself?

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for your help. You are right on the money with this.
I went to my local Home Depot and they said the same thing. They explained how I should do it and showed me some pics. They said it was pretty easy.
Should be fun.

Kind regards,
Elysa
