Hi there I'm doing an essay on this book and I am expected to discuss the following statement:

What was the purpose of George Orwell's nineteen eighty-four novel?

So far I can think of the contradiction is poses on our political life and that the solitary person who rises against it is always defeats it. Any idead would be appreciated. Thanks

I thought it was one of the most powerful warnings ever issued against the dangers of a totalitarian society.

There are some good resources out there about George Orwell and 1984.
