A few times my husband has stopped a leak under my kitchen sink. It seems to be only on one side where it meets to cross to the other side of the double sink. He is out of town now, and I tried to tighten the pipe, and it is pouring water now. (I really messed it up) It is PVC, and seems to have a plastic ring inside where it connects (gasket?) No matter how much I try to put it back and together tighten it; it still leaks. Any simple suggestions? My husband is an electrician not a plumber, and I wonder if that was our original problem :p

Thanks for any help

Well it could be a couple of things but it sounds to me like the pipe may be cracked look it over good with a flash light to see exactaly where it is leakin.

It would be nice to know what you hubby did in his repair because he might be prone to jury rigging or something. That ring is a threaded collar that slips onto a PVC pipe and then a beveled almost clear washer goes on next. Make sure that the bevel is ponting away from the nut and towards the threaded pipe that the nut will tighten on to. Be sure you slip the pipe with the nut and washer inised the other pipe by w few inches and then start engaging the threads until very snug. Add water and report back.

It isn't cracked, but I believe I am missing the one washer that you mentioned. I have decided I should take off the small parts that I have and take them to my closest plumbing department, and see exactly the part you are talking about. Thanks for your help. My husband probably didn't realize it didn't have the washer. Thanks.
