I have a Hampton Bay remote that I have transferred to anouther fan after being in the first fan for two years. The remote worked great in the first fan, it does not work as well in the second. The light stays on, it does not turn off or dim with the remote. What should I do or where can I look?

... circuit differences with the circuits between the 2 units or other subtleties preventing reception from the handheld. Are the model numbers the same? Is it worth the effort to try the remote back in the original to fan to make certain it wasn't damaged when changing out?
