View Full Version : Broken blood vessel?

Last night I felt a very sharp pain at the interior of the joint closest to my palm on my middle finger.

I looked down and the vein there was huge, bulging and purple (arrow pointing)! Super sharp pain, ouch! The pain was on and off... nothing, then very sharp pain, and back and forth for an hour.

The pic's not very good, but this morning I can see the shadow of blood spread out up a bit and down halfway to my palm (circled area).

... so seems a broken blood vessel... but how in the world does that happen? I did not hit it or otherwise traumatize it. Is there any reason I should be concerned... or is it just one of those things that comes with age :o

It's basically just one of those things. Doesn't have to be age related.

Have you been shoveling snow? Hands cold? If there was an injury that caused it, it might have been so minor so as not to even notice it.

I've had this before, it sucks, but it goes away.

I wouldn't worry. I get them all the time, and I'm not old. Lol. ;) Sometimes when I bump my finger or something.

I know my mom gets them more then me, but I think she has hereditary varicose vein problems in general.
