Hello, I am attaching a picture of what I have, I would like to be sure the vents are right and as good as they can be. Right now the toilet does not flush properly at all. Any thoughts?

Please explain in detail exactly what the toilet's doing. As for the venting, everything looks to be in order. The toilet's vented by the main soil stack, the lavatory's vented,(I assume ) by a vent out the roof and the tub/shower's wet vented by the lavatory. I wouldn't have done it any different myself. Hi Tom, thanks for the compliment, :eek: I would never expect it! LOL, this house will be the death of me. So, no, there is no stack for the sink,(lavatory?) the stack is the only vent, the walls are open so now is the time to make it work right for another 2 hundred years!

The lavatory MUST BE VENTED to make your drainage work. If you can't run a vent out the roof then consider installing a AAV, (air admittance vent, ) just behind the trap. I don't understand your question about the cast iron. Do you wish to replace it? Regards, Tom

Yes, I can run a vent out, any where to send me to find the "how to" and as for the cast, I would like to remove at least the abs or up to the stack. How to put a male abs with a cast female?

It's still unclear exactly what it is you wish to remove. The ABS or the cast iron. To convert from the cast iron hub to ABS you install a donut, (rubber insert, see image) in the hub and stick the male end of the ABS in it. Regards, Tom

Hey Diane,

You didn't size the pipe so I'm going to assume that the cast iron is 3", (if its 4" just substitute the numbers).
You will use 2" pipe on the tub/shower and lavatory drain pipes. After you convert to ABS you will pick up the lavatory drain with a 4X2" wye and connect the T/S drain and trap with a 2" drainage tee or a combination wye and eighth bend,(Combo) to the lavatory drain for the wet vent. You will extend the lavatory drain insied the wall and turn up with a 2" short sweep elbo to 18" above the floor to the center of a 2X1/1/2" drainage tee.
The 1 12" will be the stub out to pick up the lavatory and the vent out the roof will continue out the top of the tee to the roof. Questions? I'm as close as a click. Good luck, Tom
