I have not really worked on home ac units.I do have my licence to work on automobile ac systems and I consider myself pretty good on auto ac systems.
I am wondering and thinking that with my licence should'nt I be able to purchece freon from like grainger or some other suplier.
I hooked up gauges to my system and it's reading a little low and also the people that lived here before had the wrong size filter so I am sure I will need to clean the evaporator also.
Thank's Doug

I am sure you know more about this than most of us here do. Might check with a local heating and plumbing supply house. Also, you might even hang around and look at some of the questions. I do my best with thermostats and such, but can't even help people ask intelligent questions sometimes when they have to call a technician.

You actually have to be epa certified to purchase freon, but a local supply house might find the license good enough

To work with freon on a single family central AC you need a level 2 EPA license... the people whose sell you this freon but don't ask for such license may be fine up to 10,000$...
