My digital camera has an SD card. My stand alone photoprinter will only accept Xd cards. Can I get an adaptor to solve this problem?

Yes, card readers are available at computer stores (like Comp USA), places like Best Buy,
And Circuit City. Also at Office Max and Office Depot. Most will read most memory card formats. The device will plug into a USB port on your computer.
They are usually inexpensive ($20. Or less).

1) xD cards are only used in olympus cameras. It is funny to have a printer which has only an SD card slot since xD cards are not universally used. I have yet to see a printer like that.
2) If you get an adapter it will attach to your computer through USB. It is unlikely that you shall be able to connect it directly to your printer.
3) If you are going to to connect to the computer anyway - you could just connect the camera directly to the computer with its cable. You need not buy an adapter.
4) If both - your camera and printer are Pictbridge compatible, you can directly hook up your camera with the printer.
