Okay so I've had my period for what, like 3 years. I've been skipping around for months and like over the summer I lost a bit of weight and so it stopped and I got it back and whatever. It's just up until recently did I start having "invisible" periods and like "fakes" and then in December I had this bleeding for 2 and a half weeks!! I'm so mad about it and I'm scared it's back and it's been like a week and it's lasting even longer. I talked to my mom about regulating my cycles and stuff with medication. What the heck is going on?

Also, I have extreme cramps. My mom and one of my sisters don't get cramps but me and my another sister get the worst cramps! I miss out on so much ballet and activities from it. I missed out on 6 classes and 2 rehersals that month! Everone thinks I'm weak but I have a great tolerance to pain (I even have my ears gauged) and I throw up from it. I need help. :(

Sweetie the best thing I can tell you is to go see your doctor. Most likey the doctor will recommend you going on birth control because it makes you regular and makes you cramps less painful.the first year that you have your period it is normal for you to be irregular. What do you mean you get "fake" periods? Do you get all the pms symptoms w/o the actual period? But odds are you will be put on birth control but then you risk your body getting dependent on it. Ask your doctor about the options you have besides birth control. If birth control is the only solution then try asking the doctor for the lowest dose. Birth control pills make you REALLY moody since they have hormones in it but after a while your body gets used to it. Well I hope this helps a little. Take care

Yaz. That seems like it could be a good because. I wouldn't do the shot or paches. I hated them. When I got on the pill it made my cramps worse and I gained weight! Hated it. Umm. How much weight did you lose. And how quick. That could be a big part of it. Because if you lost it in the wrong way your body could have been in starve mood and . That es your period up.

Well over the summer I stayed at a constant weight- 92 pounds and my body fat percentage was 4 or 5 and I was extremely fit and had a 6 pack (matainence for ballet since it requires A lot of it). I had a very very healthy diet and I ate normal/large portions. Then that one day I had realized my breasts didn't fill my bra so I decided to take a break from the health freak phase. So now I'm about 98 pounds and my body fat percentage is about 8. I don't think it was that much of a change. Like, my period stopped because of my physical activity and it started up once I took a break and was completely normal and predictible and then in October it started getting whacky. I've never really been normal for longer than 2 months and so I expected it but I had no idea it was going to last for 2 and a half weeks (about 7 days out of the two and the half weeks were EXTREMELY heavy)! Also, I'm trying to convince my mom that she should take me to my doctor but she doesn't think it's serious at all, considering it's getting much worse. I think that she doesn't want to get my health checked because she probably thinks I want birth control because I have a boyfriend. It's so frusterating and I'm concerned about how this could end up if nothing happens. :(

Its very likely that your physical activity and weight changes are causing these problems. Ballet dancers commonly have lack of period, etc. because of their low body fat. Younger girls also have issues with their periods being unpredictable... that tends to improve with age.

Keep talking to your mom.. you should be seen by a doctor. Birth control is commonly prescribed to help girls regulate their periods. If that's a concern for her, remind her that a trip to a GYN does not necessarily mean you'll be given birth control pills.
