I am new to all this. Currently into Information Technology in USA.want to start import business from china to india in fully- manufactured and semi manufactured items.
My questions are?
How much initial investment is needed?
Do I need a lmport licence.
How much is the importing cost per container.

I think the total cost depend on the product you want to import. Yes you need import licence in india to import goods. You also may need to get vat number.

Chartered accountant in india will help you to register them and cost may be not so high and should take less than a month.

If you do not want to get this licences, you may contact some custom agent in india who may agree to import on behalf of you at least for the first couple of times.
