Does anyone know how to get watermarks out of leather? I spilt water in and on a handbag!

The same thing happened to me when a bottle of plain water spilled all over the inside and outside of my tan colored purse. I was heartbroken. I can tell you what I did about the situation. I totally immersed the whole pocketbook in cold water and let it absorb the water for about a minute. Then I hung the purse upside down in my bathroom and let air dry. The purse is now all the same color - just one half shade darker all over. The trick of it is to not dry it other than air dry. Don't put anything in the water either. Just plain clean water is sufficient.
