Hi:
I am replacing my microwave above the stove with a range hood. The only problem is, how do I connect the wires from the new hood?
I currently have an outlet where the microwave was plugged into. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Start by killing the breaker to that circuit. Remove the receptacle cover and unscrew the two screws at each end of the outlet. Put a tester on the silver and brass screws to insure power is off. Pull out on the outlet and unscrew both screws and the gorund wire if there is one. You now have a box, white wire (neutral) and a black (hot) and maybe a green (ground). Your bigger challenge will be to safely get the hood wires to enter the side of the box with a proper connector for your wire. You should not just connect your hood to the wires sticking out of the box since they need to be enclosed. Be sure to wire nuts that are tightly twisted on the wires, I also wrap with electrical tape on the nuts. Put a blank 2x4 cover on the box when finished. The other less standard option is to put a male plug on your hood wires and plug that into the current outlet. I do not think this would meet code but it would work in a pinch.
