I have always had irregular periods so I went on the pill about a year and a half ago. I'm not sexually active. Everything was going OK, no spots, no weight gaining etc. Last time I went to my gynecologist, I told her I heard that it's not good to take the pill with no intervals for too long so she said I could take a one month break from it. And so I did, I had my 'period' last week and didn't start a new pack this time.

On Tuesday I had ballet class and almost fainted. It has happened to me before because of low blood pressure, but this time I had eaten etc, and I simply had no reason to do so. I googled 'stopping the pill' and found out that a hormone change can cause this.

I'm scared. Am I supposed to be feeling so weak till I get my next period(I don't even know when that will be) when I will start the pill again? If I had known about this I wouldn't have stopped it. Is there a way to start getting it again without waiting for my normal period to come?

I actually doubt that the Pill had anything to do with fainting or feeling weak. Are you underweight or iron-deficient? Diabetic?

In truth, there isn't anything wrong with being on the pill for several years. In fact, Pills are beneficial to many women's health. Mine were initially prescribed because I had ovarian cancer and it lowered my risk of tumor/cyst occurrence! Your doctor probably let you take a break because you aren't sexually active and you felt uncomfortable with the idea of staying on. Once you start them again, try staying on for a while. Going off/on will definitely affect your hormone levels, making you feel "off". Fainting though, is extreme and you should consult your doctor about not only that but if/when to start the Pill again.

Good luck to you!
