The prostate is a gland in the male urinary tract that surrounds the neck of the male blader and the deepest part of the urethra. It produces a fluid that becomes part of the semen in ejaculate.
It is a rather firm structure that is about the size of a chestnut and is located in the pelvic cavity of men.
The prostate is made of glandular and muscular tissue and contracts during ejaculation of the semen.
As for what can go wrong... there are many things from simple BPH (Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy) to prostate cancer.
