How effective is St. John's Wort for depression. I have read good articles and have also seen some that say it is not effective. What would be the best nutritional supplement to take for depression/anxiety?

For serious depression you should see your medical professional, since many levels are past self help.

But for very minor depression, it has been reported to be helpful

General foods for depression include: brown rice, cucumber, apples, cabbage, fresh wheat germ, kuzu root, wild blue-green algae, and apple cider vinegar. Including one of them in each meal is usually enough.

Apple cider vinegar in particular, a teaspoon in some water, up to three times a day should get you going... but be careful not to depend on it too much.

To really get at the root of depression nutritionally, see a good acupuncturist, get some herbs and needling.

Then that's only half the picture. Movement is the other half. Tai chi or yoga would be great, but any form of mindful movement or dance can work. Use the vinegar if you need to motivate yourself to go to class ;-)
