Does anyone know how many pulleys there are in the ground drive belt system on a sears craftsman gt 3000 w/ 48in deck w/ a kholer 25 hp v-twin pro motor?

You can usually download a diagram from Welcome to the Parts Store (http://www3.sears.com/) There is a pulley on the engine shaft and the transmission. In addition to those there is also an idler and a tensioner pulley that moves when you engage the drive.

The parts store needs a model # which I do not have.The number of pulleys you mentioned is the same but the belt still seems slack.It won't tighten up at all.I am baffeled. Thanks..

Yes, you will need the model number. You may have the belt routed incorrectly, if you go around one pulley the incorrect direction, it can throw you off and it will not function at all.

Model number on a Sears is usually under the seat on a sticker.

Guy's... Ihave no model number.I could use one for this model if is close to a year 2000.I am sure the pulley systems are very similar

Contact kohler with the numbers off your engine, and that would let you know the year of the engine and may get you close to the year of the tractor itself.

Kasp, try this model #917.272911 This is not a perfect match but the belt diagram is just like yours. Basically it looks like a letter T. The bottom of the T is the belt going around the engine pulley, the outer ends of the horizontal of the T are the mandrel pulleys above each blade and then where both lines interesct are two idler pulleies. Hope the number helps.
